ABOUT TYRA

Hurricane Tyra Black came on the pickleball scene in March of 2023 after playing tennis since she was a child.  A close friend got her out on the pickleball court and would think about playing pickleball while she was still playing tennis!  She knew then that she needed to make a permanent switch.  

Tyra currently plays for the Miami Pickleball Club in the second season of Major League Pickleball (MLP).  She has played several tournaments for the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) in her short career and has recently taken gold in singles at the Takeya Showcase in August of 2023.  A long-term goal for her is to be able to play pickleball for as long as possible.

In her free time, Tyra likes to shop and go on nature walks.  She loves animals and recently did a pickleball fundraiser to help the homeless animals at SecondHand Hounds in Minnesota.  Her passion for the game, her desire to bring pickleball to every community and her kindess on and off the court align with the value and vision at PIKKL.  We are thrilled to partner with Tyra and have her be a part of Team PIKKL.
